OOTD: Summer White

Last summer I bought white linen pants, and sadly they have been hanging in my closet for far too long. The weather here has been extremely hot so the thought of wearing pants, even light weight material, never even crossed my mind.

Last Sunday I was asked to go to a bridal show with my brother in law’s fiance. I was one of those crazy people who loved planning my wedding. I was happy to go help her check out all the vendors. Plus, we got to watch a wedding dress fashion show. It was a fun day!

I decided since we were inside all afternoon that it was the perfect time to pull those white linen pants out of the closet:

Top: Target

Pants: JCrew

Shoes: Hollister

Jewelry: Lia Sophia

This guy kept trying to make a guest appearance so I took a photo with him:

Chase Them

The other day I updated my slate roof tile/chalkboard to a new quote. I LOVE everything about this quote. Often our dreams get pushed aside. We get caught up in life right now and put our dreams on hold.

I have already chased down and fulfilled dreams I set up in my life. I graduated college, bought a beautiful house, married my best friend, became a coach of my old HS dance team, ran a marathon, & so much more.

Fulfilling dreams just means I get to make room for more!

One day I dream…

to own a cupcake shop

 to be a fitness trainer

to be a mom

 to visit Ireland

to run a sub-4 hour marathon.

If we don’t give ourselves dreams in life then we have nothing to strive for. I don’t know how long I will have to chase these dreams but I plan on giving it everything I’ve got.

What dreams do you have?

Oh, How Pinteresting…

This week I have decided to link with with Michelle for Oh, How Pinteresting Wednesday.  I’m going to share all the pins I actually used this week!

Want a freshly cleaned mattress? Try this!

Have you ever thought to clean your washer? I did this yesterday and my washer looks brand new!

And you can’t forget the dryer

I am no artist, but I gave my best shot at fancy chalk letters {see it here} Be sure to watch the video of these amazing artists!

This is one of the first things I pinned and I finally got around to painting our dresser {see it here}. I love the contrast of colors!

What pins have you actually tried out?

Pop of Color

One of the first few things I pinned on Pinterest were colored dressers in grey rooms. I loved the contrast between the room color and the pop the dresser brought in.

Last summer, Glidden had a great deal going on where you got a free quart of any color. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with our free quart. I ordered Caribbean Sea  and sort of forgot about the project. That was until this week when we had stormy weather. It was the perfect time to drag everything to the basement and get to work.  I had to bust out the orbital sander to sand this baby down:

I had to sand off all of Andy’s hard work from when he re-stained this circa 2006 Craig’s List number. It looked good in his old bedroom but the stain didn’t match any of the other dark wood we have in the room.

After two coats of paint I was left with a new, beautiful, & bright dresser!

I thought I could get away with not painting the sides but as you can see I need to go back and fix that. I am in LOVE with how it turned out.

I am on the search for new knobs, I’m thinking glass would look best. I also and looking for new bedding to go with the color scheme I am going for. Now I’m ready for the next project, which of course was another Pinterest find:

OOTD: Summer Cookouts

One of my favorite things about summer is the cookouts. I love any excuse to get together with friends and eat some good food!

While I was down in Nashville, we spent an afternoon at the Opry Mills Mall. The only thing I ended up buying was a skirt from Charlotte Russe. I thought it would be perfect to wear to Andy’s birthday cookout.

I am still on the hunt for a tank that is the same mint/teal color that is in the skirt (suggestions??)

My current favorite cookout food to bring is something I saw on Pinterest, foil desserts! You take a cone and fill it with all kinds of goodies. The fixings I bought were mini marshmallows, mini chocolate chips, chopped up caramel Milkyways,   peanut butter M&M’s,  & Twix.

They are super easy to make too! Fill your cone, wrap in foil, put in the coals for a few-just to melt everything, unwrap (carefully!), and enjoy!

What is your favorite food to take to a cookout??
